STATEMENT OF BELIEF
The Holy Scriptures, as contained in the Old and New Testaments, are the supreme and final authority in all matters of faith, doctrine, governance, and practice. We affirm the following truths as an accurate summary of what Scripture teaches.
The Holy Scriptures
We believe the Scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments, are inspired by God, without any error in the original writing, the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men, and the divine and final authority for all Christian faith, practice, and life. The Church guides members to corporately study and pray over issues where Scripture is silent, realizing that it cannot bind the conscience of individual members in these areas.
God
We believe in one God, the creator of all things, infinitely perfect, and eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He died on the cross, a sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. Further, He arose bodily from the dead on the third day and ascended into heaven, where at the right hand of God the Majesty, He is now our High Priest, Intercessor, and Advocate.
Holy Spirit
We believe the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus, to convict, regenerate, seal, indwell, guide, instruct, and empower believers for life and service during this age.
Mankind
We believe that man was created in the image of God, but fell into sin and is therefore lost, and only through regeneration by the Holy Spirit can salvation be obtained, and that death seals the eternal destiny of each person.
Salvation
We believe that the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provides the only ground for justification and salvation for all who repent and believe, and only such as receive Jesus Christ are born of the Holy Spirit and thus become children of God.
Ordinances
We believe that water baptism and the Lord’s Supper are ordinances to be observed by the Church during this age.
“For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup…” — 1 Corinthians 11:26
The Church
The true Church is composed of all such persons who are regenerated by the Holy Spirit through the saving grace of Jesus Christ, of whom He is Lord and Head, and are now commissioned for the God-given task of proclaiming the Gospel to every person. Only those who are thus members of the true Church are eligible for membership in the local Church.
Christ’s Return
We believe in the personal and imminent return of our Lord Jesus Christ, and that this has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of the believer.
Judgment
We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead: of the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord, and of the unbeliever to judgment and eternal separation from God.
Satan
We believe that Satan is a real personality; he was created perfect by God and given power, but through pride he fell and became the father of sin, the archenemy of God and the souls of men.
